Anger as Caversham Homes folds

The private building company of Australand's State housing construction manager has gone into liquidation amid complaints from angry customers and less than a fortnight before a hearing for an order to pay against the group.

The complaints against Paul Vaile's Dakoda Corporation, which trades as Caversham Homes, date back to at least 2005. A list supplied by the Builders' Registration Board shows at least six cases involving Dakoda have gone before the Building Disputes Tribunal.

A voluntary liquidator was put into Dakoda on January 21, before the BDT was due to meet on February 2 about a request by a customer that an order to pay be made against the company. The board said it was likely to investigate Mr Vaile.

A creditors' meeting on February 1 was told Dakoda owed about $268,000 if all claims against the company proved valid, but only about $186,000 might be able to be realised. There are at least 26 creditors.
